Cemeteries

There are two cemeteries within Honey Grove:  Oakwood Cemetery and Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Oakwood Cemetery has over 6200 known burials, dating from 1854, and doubtless many more unknown burials.  Detailed information on burials at Oakwood is available on the Fannin County GenWeb site.  Read more about Oakwood Cemetery HERE.

Cedar Hill Cemetery, an historical Afro-American cemetery, has over 800 known burials, and doubtless many more unknown burials. Detailed information on burials at Cedar Hill is available on the Fannin County GenWeb site.

There are also many cemeteries in the rural areas outside of Honey Grove where Honey Grove residents were buried.  These include Shiloh, Allens Point, McCraw Chapel and many others.  For a full list of of Fannin County cemeteries, refer to the Fannin County GenWeb site.

In addition, many people living in or in the vicinity of Honey Grove were buried in adjacent Lamar County, in cemeteries such as Hickory Grove and Forest Hill.  Lamar County cemetery records can be searched on the Lamar County GenWeb site.
